This project served as the culmination of my undergraduate studies at Rome University of Fine Arts, with minimal constraints beyond reflecting personal interests and academic growth.
Following a year abroad in Porto, the research focused on understanding the cultural roots of Portuguese melancholia, examining myths, memories, and culture to understand how a nation's past influences its present identity and character.
CONCEPT
The identity is an image in which the present dominates the scene, but the past dictates the destiny.
This exploration delves into how national identity is shaped by historical and cultural elements, tracing the threads of melancholy that weave through Portuguese culture and examining how these emotional undercurrents define a collective character across generations.
